What is a Janka score?
The Janka hardness test measures the force required to embed a .444-inch steel
ball to half its diameter in wood. It is the industry standard for gauging the ability of
wood species to withstand denting and normal wear. Due to differences in grain patterns, some
wood species may show dents and scratches more readily than others, despite having a higher
Janka score.
Can I have wood floors if I own pets?
Certainly, but you may want to take into consideration that softer woods, such as birch or walnut, will show wear more readily than harder woods. Also, we recommend keeping your pets' nails trimmed.
How do I maintain my floor?
The most important way to keep your floors in good shape is by keeping sand and grit off of the floor. We sell cleaning kits to remove spills and grime from your floors. When your floor begins to show wear, a light sanding and application of another coat of finish can be applied to prevent premature wear.
How long do I have to wait to place furniture/ rugs on my freshly finished floor? Furniture can be placed back on the floor after one week, rugs after three weeks.
